Student Recital  ~ Saturday, January 30, 2016 at the Watertown Free Public Library

Recital ~ Sunday, November 1, 2015
5pm at First Parish Watertown
35 Church Street, Watertown

I'm thrilled to present a recital with some of my talented colleagues!

I'll start out with some solo Bach, followed by the first movement of the Elgar cello concerto and the jazzy short piece Julie-O by Mark Summer. I'm also very excited to present the world premiere of Movement in Stasis by Matt Hanna.

In the second half of the show, I'll invite some more friends on stage to form a middle eastern takht, or chamber ensemble. We'll have an oud (plucked lute), nay (reed flute), qanun (plucked zither), and riqq (tambourine). We'll be performing some traditional Turkish and Arab tunes as well as selections by Riyad Al-Sunbati, Mohammed Al-Qassabji, Sadi Isilay, and Mohammed Abdel Wahab.

The suggested donation for admission is $10, and children get in free. Proceeds benefit First Parish Watertown's Opening Doors capital campaign. Tickets may be purchased at the door.
